I agree with Mint. Strong hardware sales all round (Of course the Wii's sales are exceptional 'again').
Funny to see the fanboys flock to the NPD numbers, all coming out of the woodworks like c*ckroaches. ;)
Considering It was only a couple of days of Killzone 2 sales it didn't do that bad, unfortunately people put so much pressure on 1 particular title to completely change the fortunes of the PS3.
The hardware numbers are quite interesting (if it's your type of thing), I think they are closer than I expected...
Thoughts?
Cheers for the info guys. I'm really looking forward to (finally) getting my PS3. I have already had the experience of playing MGS4 (incredible game which I of course finished when I borrowed my brother's PS3) so what other games should I be on the look out for.
I know I will be getting Valkyria Chronicles (love my RPG's) and likely Killzone 2 (looked amazing from what I saw), what other games should I be on the lookout for (of course won't be able to get heaps of games initially...
So if I'm playing say Killzone 2 and my brother is playing MGS4, we wouldn't be able to chat? I guess I don't care that much about cross game game... Well what if I'm in the main XMB menu, can I chat to someone who is in a game?
What other points of interest should I know?
As I'm personally buying a PS3 in the next month or so (price drop would be a nice benefit), I would like to get some perspectives on the actual feature differences on the PSN and XBL networks.
Though I'm not really a big online player (typically) I do actually use the services of XBL quite frequently, Chat/msging etc. So I have heard people mention the disconnected nature of PS3, what do they mean exactly by this statement.
Any info would be appreciated.
If I liked the Club should I give this game a try?
With the price of Petrol.... no thanks ;)
Think I will stick with my Ford.
Well I will be doing my best to stimulate the economy and the gaming industry...
I'm buying a PS3 with the cash hand-out. Sweet ;)
I agree. Though some people the 'classic' style is outdated, I prefer the puzzles and horror elements of the old games :)
Good review though.
I honestly don't know why I'm bothering to reply to these responses. The point I'm trying to make (as per my original response), is that saying people who don't own a PS3 feared Killzones release is ridiculous, why would anyone care? Its not like they couldn't go buy a PS3 and play the 'game' (highlighted because we are talking about an entertainment product here, yet you guys are acting like it is the most important item ever conceived).
GET OVER IT. Some people won't like it......
The only people who truly care about these so called 'attacks' on Killzone are the delusional twats I was referring to in the first place...
Get over it, it's a game. Some people won't like everything you like, that is a fact of life.
Thankfully my ignore list will gain another delusional 'gamer' (I use the word loosely are these parts).
Have a nice, delusional day :)
@ Feline: I guess I will be adding you to the 'delusional' list then, along with those so called Xbots...
I'm not pointing the finger here at any one fanbase, I'm pointing the finger at anyone who thinks these petty things are worth arguing over. People are so caught up in this 'console war' that they are creating scenarios and explanations for events that don't exist.
@ MeatPopsicle... Are you delusional? We are talking about a game here, why would anyone 'fear' its release? As a 360 owner I'm excited by what Killzone delivers, after playing it for an hour or so, it is certainly a great game. Your 'Fear' ramblings don't make sense.
What is with everyone putting these companies on such an unattainable pedestal? The are out to make money, not abolish world hunger, people need to put this in perspective.
Agree.
Who coined this ridiculous term anyway? It is just a way for "Insert Platform" Fanboys to talk up their own purchasing decisions whilst disputing everyone else who bought differently.
Love this podcast. Great Aussie humour :)
@MattG: I have specifically read some of your articles and have to say I actually enjoy some of your opinion pieces.
As I have said before though, with all due respect, HHG has thrived on bias and sensationalist headlines to generate hits for some time now. I personally PM'ed HHG himself and received a reply assuring me that things would change, unfortunately it hasn't.
You certainly have the writing ability (no spelling mistakes and minimal grammatical mistakes), so...
So now you guys are arguing over which multi national corporation donates more to charity.... Jesus Christ you guys are fanatical.
Sorry to burst your bubble but both companies don't give two sh*ts about global poverty and hunger, they care about making money...
I think we need to stop putting these companies on a pedestal and realise that they (like any other company) first and foremost, care more about the bottom dollar.
Sorry to be so cynical but tha...
That same Halo edition was $200 in Australia.
On topic that Resident Evil 5 CE seems like a rip-off...
Street Fighter 4 is a fighting masterpiece, and a welcome edition to the premier fighting franchise...
I agree with the score, fantastic game.
HAHA Cool 40Cal, I'm from NSW :)
Thanks for the lists of games guys, looks like I have plenty to keep me busy.
Regards, Kaim.
